It’s the fifth anniversary of Luv Ranjan’s ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ today. The film was a sleeper hit indeed! While it got in those numbers at the box-office and made profits since it was made on a moderate budget, its music and storyline stayed with the audience and how! ‘Tera Yaar Hoon Main’ continues to remain the friendship anthem in the last five years.
Kartik celebrates five years of the film today. The actor wrote, “5 years ago this day turned into Friendship’s day ❤️ And Sonu became an inseparable part of our lives. Thank you Sonu ko apne dil se lagaane ke liye🤗 #5YearsOfSonuKeTituKiSweety 🙏🏻”
The film proved to be a game-changer for all the three actors – Nushrratt Bharuccha, Sunny Singh and Kartik. They got love like never before and also bankability as stars. Further, with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, Kartik further more won hearts and confidence of the audiences and the industry.
It was all about the over possessive bestfriend plotting and planning to get rid of his pal’s gold-digging girlfriend, Luv Ranjan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (SKTKS) was labeled misogynistic by some at the time of release.
The director says he never bothered with what the naysayers would have to say. “We made the film that we wanted to. All my films including the latest Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar comes from a place of honesty. Aur main aapko sach bataon? Audiences can always tell if the filmmaker is honest in his intentions. Labels don’t bother me.”
SKTKS put Kartik on the road to stardom.
“I had a gut feeling he would make it to where he is today. Kartik had the charm talent and the lagan to get where he wanted. His journey started in my Pyaar Ka Punchnaama. But it was SKTKS that actually made him a star,” says Luv affectionately.
Stardom fell into Kartik Aaryan’s lap with this film where he played a character so scheming and dangerous he gave a new definition to the art of emotional manipulation. Clearly this was a bromance of extraordinary intensity and Kartik plays the brother-born-from-different-mother with a ferocious fidelity never allowing gay insinuations to colour their camaraderie.
At the moment, Kartik’s film ‘Shehzada’ is running in the theatres. While it has done moderate at the box-office and hasn’t been able to bring in huge numbers, Kartik has gotten rave reviews for his performance. The film stars Kriti Sanon with him.
He’s currently shooting for ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ with Kiara Advani. The film is a hardcore love story where he reunites with his ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ co-star.
