Director Gunasekha and Producer Neelima Guna of Shakuntalm movie were confident on Samantha Prabhu playing the lead actor and character of Shakuntala.
Samantha was not sure about doing this part. Her response to this was,” I thought I didn’t look like Shakuntala. I thought I didn’t have the grace and the poise of Shakuntala.”
She further said,” But this is a kind of common trait with me over the last few years. All the roles that I have played, I said that I can’t do it.”
She added,” So I think this is a kind of a trait that I fear but then I confront that fear.”
She went on to say,” I think this is a sort of an evolution not just me as an actor but me as a person as well. I fear everyday but somehow I confront it.”
” and I think that all of the characters that I have done in the last few years are characters I was absolutely fearful of playing.”
On being asked about her reason for hesitation, Samantha said,” No I don’t play characters that I usually do. It’s always a new chatacter. It’s always a new part of myself that I’m discovering to play the character.”
Samantha spoke,” It’s part of me that I don’t even know existed as yet. So I think hesitation comes from there, not really that I have self doubt.”
She confronted,”Everytime I’m addressing a new subject, I’m unlocking a new part of me that I didn’t know existed. That’s the beauty of being human being that you’re constantly evolving.”
