a) Bachchhan Paandey, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi. It is an official remake of the 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda which itself was inspired by the 2006 South Korean film A Dirty Carnival.
b) Samrat Prithviraj, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language historical action drama film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj language epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, a Rajput king from the Chahamana dynasty. It features Akshay Kumar as the titular character, while Manushi Chhillar makes her Hindi film debut playing the role of Sanyogita.
c) Ram Setu, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action-adventure film directed by Abhishek Sharma. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Satya Dev and follows an archeologist who is investigating the nature of Ram Setu, also known as Adam’s Bridge.
d) Raksha Bandhan, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language family comedy-drama film directed by Aanand L. Rai and written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. It stars Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth, Abhinay Raj Singh and Deepika Khanna.
2) Laal Singh Chaddha is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by Advait Chandan from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, it is a remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump which itself is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The film stars Aamir Khan as the title character alongside Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh.
3) Amitabh Bachchan’s all the 3 movies released this year didn’t do so well:
a) Uunchai, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language adventure drama film written and directed by Sooraj Barjatya. Produced jointly by Rajshri Productions, Boundless Media and Mahaveer Jain Films, it stars an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika.
b) Goodbye, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language family comedy-drama film written and directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Bahl, Viraj Savant, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under their banners Good Co, Balaji Motion Pictures and Saraswati Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan , Rashmika Mandanna and Neena Gupta.
c) Jhund, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language biographical sports film based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sandip Singh, Raaj Hiremath, Savita Hiremath, Nagraj Manjule, Gargee Kulkarni and Meenu Arora under the banner of T-Series, Tandav Films Entertainment Pvt.Ltd and Aatpat Films.
4) Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 hits double century as it enters the Rs 200 crore club. Whereas other 2 films didn’t do so well:
a) Runway 34, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language thriller film produced and directed by Ajay Devgn under the Ajay Devgn FFilms banner. It was written by Sandeep Kewlani and Aamil Keeyan Khan. The film is inspired by an aviation incident of a Jet Airways flight from Dubai to Kochi in 2015. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rakul Preet Singh, with Boman Irani, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh playing pivotal roles.
b) Thank God, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language fantasy comedy drama film directed by Indra Kumar. It is an official remake of the 2009 Danish film Sorte Kugler. It stars Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh.
5) Heropanti 2, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Ahmed Khan, written by Rajat Arora and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film serves as a sequel to the 2014 film Heropanti. It stars Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tara Sutaria.
6) Dhaakad, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Razneesh Ghai. It stars Kangana Ranaut, Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta and Saswata Chatterjee.
7) a) Shabaash Mithu is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language biographical sports drama film directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios. The film based on the life of former Test and ODI captain of the India women’s national cricket team, Mithali Raj, stars Taapsee Pannu in titular role. It chronicles ups and downs and moments of glory of Mithali’s life.
b) Dobaaraa, also stylized as 2:12, Hindi-language science fiction mystery thriller film directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film stars Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati.Dobaaraa is an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage.
8) Ek Villain Returns, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language romantic psychological action thriller film written and directed by Mohit Suri, being a standalone sequel to his 2014 film Ek Villain, and produced by T-Series and Balaji Motion Pictures. It stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria.
9) Jersey, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language sports drama film written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, being his Hindi directorial debut and the remake of his 2019 Telugu film of the same title. Cricket action choreographed and directed by Rob Miller of ReelSports. It stars Shahid Kapoor as a former cricketer who returns to the game for his son’s wish of buying a Jersey T- Shirt, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor.
10) a) Anek, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film written and directed by Anubhav Sinha who also co-produced it with T-Series. The film revolves around a government police secret agent official, who is sent to the Northeast region of India to bring a peace deal between the government and the separatist groups in the North East, who also want to break away from India.
b) Doctor G, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language medical campus comedy-drama film directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and produced by Junglee Pictures. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah. The film follows the struggles of a male doctor who is interested in orthopaedics but instead becomes a gynaecologist, and the ensuing chaos.
c) An Action Hero, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action comedy thriller film directed by Anirudh Iyer, written by Neeraj Yadav on the basis of an original story by Iyer, and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under T-Series Films and Aanand L. Rai under Colour Yellow Productions. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat.
11) a) Badhaai Do, a 2022 Indian Hindi comedy drama film depicting a couple in a lavender marriage. It stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar and is written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial and directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni. The film is produced by Junglee Pictures, and serves as a spiritual sequel of the 2018 film Badhaai Ho.
b) HIT: The First Case, a 2020 Indian Telugu-language crime thriller film directed by debutant Sailesh Kolanu and produced by Prashanti Tipirneni. It stars Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma. The plot follows Vikram Rudraraju, a police officer of the Telangana state’s Homicide Intervention Team who is tasked with investigating the missing case of a young girl.
12) Jugjugg Jeeyo, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language family comedy-drama film directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios. The film stars Neetu Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Manish Paul and debutante Prajakta Koli.
13) a) Cirkus, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language period comedy film directed and produced by Rohit Shetty. The film is jointly produced by Rohit Shetty Productionz and T-Series. The film stars Ranveer Singh & Varun Sharma in dual roles alongside Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez.
b) Jayeshbhai Jordaar, a 2022 Indian comedy-drama film written and directed by Divyang Thakkar, and produced by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma under Yash Raj Films. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the titular role as the son of a traditional Gujarati sarpanch, who believes in equal rights between males and females in society.
14) Shamshera, a 2022 Indian Hindi-language period action drama film produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films and directed by Karan Malhotra. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor in his first dual role alongside Sanjay Dutt, Vaani Kapoor, Ronit Roy, and Saurabh Shukla. Set in around 1800s, the story follows a dacoit tribe and their fight for independence against British rule.
